 Karen is a Certified Public Accountant with extensive management and consulting experience in the field of information technology.  She has handled numerous projects in various capacities, from team member to project manager, and has, in several instances, worked with global teams.  She also has deep experience in developing and deploying methodologies.  Her experience has expanded into that of managing the operations of an internet and mobile solutions company, overseeing finance and accounting, as well as human resources and administration.

Asia Online Solutions, Inc. is a leading internet and mobile solutions provider in the country.  As Deputy Managing Director, Karen manages the Company's operations, from overseeing business development as well as project delivery, handling finance and accounting, and overseeing human resources and administration functions.   Particularly, key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring that the Business Development Group meets its target, and that their activities are aligned with the overall vision and mission of the Company.
  • Reviewing and approving proposals to ensure that the clients' requirements are properly articulated and proposed solutions are responsive to these requirements.
  • Monitoring the alliances with the different partners.
  • Managing the Solutions Development Group by reviewing its projects to ensure that milestones and deliverables are appropriately met.
  • Monitoring the profitability of projects.
  • Establishing standards, processes, and procedures to enhance the efficiency of operations.
  • Managing the Financial and Management Reporting function, including:  budgets, financial statements, project profitability, cash plan.
  • Overseeing Human Resources administration:  recruitment, training, payroll, statutory reporting.
  • Overseeing Office Management:  procurement and other administrative functions.

Under the Telos Group of Companies, Karen assumed the role of Director for Business Development for two companies:  Enterworks Philippines, Inc. and Ubiquity Philippines, Inc.  Enterworks is a leading developer of business process and content integration software for e-business portals and marketplaces.  Ubiquity was formed to undertake an e-financial settlement project for Asia/Pacific focused primarily on e-marketplaces and financial services institutions.  Her key responsibilities included: 

  • Preparing and maintaining the business and operations plans of the Business Development Group in Asia/Pacific.
  • Identifying new business opportunities in the region in terms of both sales and potential partnerships/alliances.
  • Developing project proposals for customers.
  • Developing concept papers on the Companies' offerings.
  • Maintaining the relationships with customers and partners.

Junior Manager

SGV & Co. is the leading professional services firm that helps clients find ways to create, manage and measure value and to succeed in the new economy.  Karen joined the Audit and Business Advisory Division in November 1991 as an Audit Staff Assistant and moved to the Business Consulting Division in July 1994.

  1. In Business Consulting, she was responsible for managing various projects involving information and systems planning, requirements analysis and software package selection, and system implementation (with particular focus on Hyperion and Oracle), as well as internal Business Consulting initiatives. 
  • Aside from project management, Karen was actively involved in practice development -- developing potential projects, from job lead surveys and risk assessment (involving understanding a client's needs and requirements) to proposal preparation (translating these needs and requirements into a set of activities, deliverables and timelines that will address the foregoing). 
  • She was keenly involved in developing the Performance Management and Measurement practice Business Consulting, concentrating on the design and development of Balanced Scorecard (BSC) systems enabled by Hyperion Essbase, using the Norton and Kaplan BSC theories.
  • She was the Asia/Pacific Deployment Coordinator for the deployment of the new consulting methodology of Business Consulting group.  In this capacity, she liaised with the global deployment team, as well as with several regional coordinators, and managed activities around the Asia/Pacific related to deployment activities, including communications and training. 
  • Previous to that, she was a member of a worldwide team of content experts who were involved in designing the Business Consulting New Consultant Program geared for all new consultant hires globally.
